CAFE REVIEW: Cafe Tiji at Soho Central Podium in Greenfield District, Mandaluyong

Cafe Tiji is a recently opened coffee shop in Greenfield District, Mandaluyong. It’s inside Soho Central (the condominium) at the ground-level podium, so it’s easy to miss if you don’t know the area.

Dane and I pass here often during the daily walks of Milo. Of course, we were curious! So here we are with our cafe review.

We’ve actually ordered takeout a bunch of times but waited until we can dine-in before posting a review so it does more justice to the food being served in actual plates instead of boxed cartons.

I’m a sucker for Western breakfast, especially bacon. We first ordered it for takeout but decided to order it again when we first dined in. The Tiji’s Breakfast Plate consists of scrambled eggs, Hungarian sausage, bacon slices, a side salad, and toasted bread.

There’s nothing extremely notable about any of the individual components. They’re good but nothing to specifically call out. However, all of them together in one dish make for a hearty, comforting meal. And plus points to the effort to make tornado scramble egg—it’s not easy!

The Sea Salt and Cheese Latte is their most expensive drink in Cafe Tiji, and there’s good reason for it. It’s freakin delicious!

The creaminess and saltiness of the cheese balances out the sweetness of the milk. It gives a good oomph to an otherwise simple latte drink.

I’ve been quite addicted to this in the past few weeks and it’s boring a hole in my wallet lol

Dane on the other hand loves longganisa, so during our dine-in date, he went for Cafe Tiji’s Chorizo de Cebu. The dish was served with Chorizo de Cebu, scrambled eggs, garlic rice, and atsara.

The longganisa was subtly savory and had a sweet note. Dane enjoyed it too. I’m not usually a fan of longganisa in general, but after trying it out, it’s going to be my next order lol.

Dane loves refreshing drinks. His go-to order for the past few weeks has been this same beverage. It’s refreshing and new, as it includes both citron and lemon and sweetened with honey.

I’m not usually a fan of lemonade-based drinks but Cafe Tiji’s Sparkling Yuzu Lemonade is something I would order if I wasn’t addicted to coffee at all.

No photo, but we’ve also tried Cafe Tiji’s Chicken Karaage with Mushroom Gravy (P250) for takeout and it’s pretty good too at 3.5/5. It’s honestly better than some Karaage served in some Japanese restaurants.

Visit Cafe Tiji at the Soho Central Podium in Greenfield District, Mandaluyong. The building is along Shaw Blvd and the entrance to the podium is on the corner of Mayflower St. just a few steps from Shaw. They’re open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 6pm.

Overall Rating:

  • Taste: 4/5
  • Bang for Buck: 3.5/5
  • Ambiance: 3/5
  • Service: 4/5
  • Would we eat here again? Yes! We’ve actually eaten almost all their dishes and drank all their drinks at this point.
