RESTAURANT REVIEW: Texas Roadhouse in EDSA Shangri-La Mandaluyong

We pass by Texas Roadhouse many times in the past 6 months when we go to EDSA Shangri-La for completely different reasons. We have mentioned wanting to try it every single time but never really do. So in celebration of our second wedding anniversary, Dane decided it was finally time.

Texas Roadhouse in EDSA Shangri-La, Mandaluyong has a huge space at level 6 (near the movies), but the indoor seating is limited. Dane was able to book a reservation for us through their website so we were able to get seated in an indoor booth inside so it’s less crowded and slightly more “private.”

Upon sitting down, we were served drinking water, and complimentary fresh-baked bread rolls and peanuts. (Images c/o Trip Advisor)

The bread is freshly baked and on the sweeter side, and it had a side of herb butter.

The peanuts were much less and came in a paper bag placed in a similar bucket. Still, it was a good appetizer while waiting for the main event!

Texas Roadhouse’s Ranchero Salad is mixed greens, chili, nacho strips, cheddar cheese, pico de gallo, and cilantro tossed in ranch dressing.

It was fresh and with just enough kick from the chili. We especially love the addition of the nacho strips as they gave that crunchy texture. The addition of corn gave it a mild sweetness that goes well with the acidity of the pico de Gallo. Add a bit of pepper and salt on your bite and it’ll be perfect!

Ranchero Salad – P525 (2 people)

Dane and I’s Rating: 4/5

Dane and I decided to go for the Cowboy’s Meat Platter which includes garlic rice for 2 people, andouille sausage, St. Louis ribs, roast beef, and three sides.

The andouille sausage was delicious but wasn’t anything especially notable. The roast beef is buttery soft but a touch too fatty for my preference. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone you-can-eat-the-cartillage tender but still has a good bite to them. They taste slightly smoky, savory, with a hint of sweetness.

In general, the platter was flavorful and the textures were great. Our only concern is everything was very greasy, including the sides that were stir-fried in butter.

Cowboy’s Meat Platter: P2195 (3-4 people)

Dane and I’s Rating: 3.5/5

Overall our food review of Texas Roadhouse is great, but nothing extraordinary to call out. Our server was also nice and warm, but there wasn’t anything she did that particularly stood out.

Also, for those trying out, the grease is expected but we do recommend getting a salad when you get the Cowboy Meat Platter (and probably all the other meat dishes) to cut down all the fat you’ll consume. (I mean, even the rolls were served with butter so..)

Overall Rating:

  • Taste: 3.5/5
  • Bang for Buck: 3.5/5
  • Ambiance: 3/5
  • Service: 3/5
  • Would we eat here again? Yes, but won’t be something we’ll crave or become top of mind.
