RESTAURANT REVIEW: Galileo Enoteca Deli in Mandaluyong

Dane and I recently celebrated our third wedding anniversary. Upon searching for restaurants to celebrate in, we realized that we were basically a stone’s throw away from one of the best Italian restaurants in the Philippines according to many reviews. I ate here several years ago when a friend took my brother and me and didn’t realize until recently that Dane and I live so close! Dane hasn’t been to Galileo Enoteca yet and I haven’t tried many of their dishes too, so it was a great opportunity too!

Unfortunately, the famous cheese wheel wasn’t available when we visited. But it was still a great dinner date and we’d love to come back!

Margherita Pizza at Galileo Enoteca Deli - Grow Up, Grow Old

Margherita is our typical go-to when eating in restaurants because you can easily see and gauge the quality with so few ingredients. Like in this case, the basil topping the pizza didn’t look fresh at all.

Their tomato sauce is great but some parts of the pizza were close to burnt. There wasn’t anything special with their margherita. Just okay, not great.

I’m a seafood gal, and ordering seafood pasta is almost automatic when I see it on the menu. You have the option to go red sauce or oil-based, and I went for oil-based to appreciate the seafood a bit more.

Mussels weren’t the freshest, but everything else was spectacular. You can taste the seafood with the pasta alone and there’s a certain depth of flavor in it.

Pasta was cooked to perfect al dente (which I really commend!) and despite being an oil-based dish, it didn’t feel greasy and the high quality oil really rounded the dish.

My only concern is the serving size. it was definitely bitin!!!

Osso Bucco at Galileo Enoteca Deli - Grow Up, Grow Old

Galileo Enoteca Deli’s Osso Bucco has fork-tender veal in a savory sauce. It’s cooked and seasoned very well, served with Polenta that cuts back on the richness of the veal. It’s texture is smilar to mashed potato but less rich, so the combination is perfect.

If I could just stop dreaming about Galileo Enoteca’s seafood pasta since after I tried it, this would be my number one.

Don’t even get this!!

It didn’t explicitly say brewed iced tea, but at P120 per glass, you’d kinda expect expect it, which was NOT what we got. This was the most disappointing part of our whole experience because it felt like highway robbery to pay P120 for a glass of powdered iced tea. (Yes, I am sure because I confirmed).

Iced Tea – P120 per glass

Dane and I’s Rating: -10/5

We were served with water immediately upon sitting, which is great. But the sound of footsteps walking around and the clanking sounds in the kitchen throughout our stay took a little away from the experience.

But overall, we loved our experience (except for that iced tea that i’m still pissed about) and we’re certainly visiting Galileo Enoteca again when the cheese wheel is available! Their location is just somewhere you need to deliberately visit (they’re not in a mall where you have other things to do), but I’d say it’s worth trying at least once! Get that seafood pasta!!

Overall Rating:

  • Taste: 4/5
  • Bang for Buck: 4/5
  • Ambiance: 3.5/5
  • Service: 3.5/5
  • Would we eat here again? Definitely!
