5 Date Ideas for Introverts
Discovering fun and engaging date ideas can be a challenge, especially for introverted couples who prefer more intimate and low-key activities. Personally, I’m an extremely low-energy person. Leaving the house, despite not doing anything particularly engaging makes me exhausted by the end of the day. And if an activity involves talking to others, especially in crowds of more than 10 people, I am bound to have a headache.
We’ve been married for 7 months now. Even as introverts, we still like to have dates, big or small. Here are 5 date ideas that work for us:
Five Date Ideas for Introverts
Date Idea for introverts #1: Nearby food crawl
Dane and I live in a lively area where weekend markets and food parks exist. With just a few minutes of walking from our home, we can enjoy different food and sate our cravings. One of our recent cravings includes Korean street food Odeng as we’ve been binge-watching content from Korean Englishman in YouTube. Fortunately, there are sellers in the area.
On the other hand, if we’re feeling a bit fancy, we’ll plan a date and eat in one of the restaurants in the area, including those we have loved for a long time like Mann Hann, or newer ones we discovered like La Creperie. Even for more important milestones, we also usually find a place to celebrate in, eat out, walk a little, and go home.
Date Idea for introverts #2: Daily walks and night walks
Dane and I’s daily walks come as no surprise as we have a three-year-old beagle, Milo. Waking up to Milo’s whining and blocking off our 5pm every day has been a routine we’ve spent doing every day since we got married. We get to spend about 45 minutes to an hour away from the digital world and engage in conversations that deepen our relationship. There are days we talk about stuff we love, some days we talk about mundane things, and other days we have imaginary banters with our dog (and admittedly, we find a way to always squeeze it into the routine). It doesn’t feel like a chore. It feels more like a mini date with a small side mission of picking up poop.
But aside from that, recently we’ve found ourselves going out more often at night to take a walk and talk about random things. Sometimes it’s simply going around the neighborhood and back home, but a lot of times, it includes figuring out who will give in first if a night snack from the food park is in order. We don’t usually include Milo in these walks, so it really lets us spend time together.
Date Idea for introverts #3: Making food together
Dane doesn’t cook a lot but he loves eating, while I love cooking, baking, and feeding people I love. We’ve recently been enjoying making food together, and our most recent project was sending good ol’ the refrigerator cake Mango Graham to his family and mine.
Date Idea for introverts #4: Tagging along in errands
Ocassionally, one of us would need or want to do something that doesn’t really involve the other, like when I renewed my mobile phone plan, or when he had to go to a dentist. We usually join the other, not because it’s expected as a married couple, but because we genuinely want to be with the person we love and be there for them whenever they need us or don’t.
It may be impractical, or considered such a small thing by others, but for us, it’s these little things that make married life a lot more fun.
Date Idea for introverts #5: Watching shows together
Aside from the earlier mentioned Youtube channel Korean Englishman that we’re subscribed to for updates, we also watch other shows together as a date. In fact, we just finished my personally much-awaited The Witcher Season 3 part 1 which was released a few days ago on the 29th of June, as well as the 2019 KDrama Search: WWW on Netflix. Prior to that, we also finished season 3 of Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer) and are now waiting on Umbrella Academy Season 4. Watching these shows is usually how we spend a lot of our weeknights when we want to just be lazy.
Date Idea for Introverts bonus: Gaming
It’s no surprise that we still play games for dates since gaming is exactly how we met. Though these days, a lot of the games we play don’t have game modes that let us play with each other. So far, what takes our days include Honkai Star Rail and MineCraft (Dane is creating a server! Stay tuned!).
Date nights are essential in keeping a healthy relationship, regardless of how long you’ve been together or whether or not you’re married. These date ideas are designed to foster deeper connections, create lasting memories, and strengthen your relationship, all while embracing your introverted tendencies.
